ELDERSFIELD, WORCESTERSHIRE

About the pub

Mark cooks. Jo-Anne runs the front of house. The bar still has locals in it.

The Butchers Arms is a 16th-century free house in Eldersfield, Worcestershire, run by Mark and Jo-Anne Block. Mark cooks and Jo-Anne runs the front of house. The kitchen holds 2 AA Rosettes, awarded in August 2025, and the pub is listed in the MICHELIN Guide and GOOD FOOD guide. It is a series of three small dining rooms centred around the bar, which makes for an intimate experience.

MARK AND JO-ANNE

A small kitchen, run properly

Between them, Mark and Jo-Anne have kept a very small kitchen turning out food at Rosette standard without losing what the building is. The bar still has locals in it. That balance is deliberate, and it is the whole point of the place.

The menu changes with the seasons around named local suppliers, several of them within a few miles of the door.

Mark and Jo-Anne Block took over The Butchers Arms in 2018. Mark is the chef, while Jo-Anne runs front of house. Before coming to Eldersfield, Mark worked in London as a head chef, notably at the Bluebird, Kings Road for 8 years. Jo-Anne was in the feature film industry.
